HOMEWORK
Homework in EYFS comprises of a number of different elements:
FORTNIGHTLY NEWSLETTER | As well as giving details of what we have done at school that week the newsletter may give a follow-on task related to these details. e.g. following some work on shapes at school, children may be asked to look for and describe different shapes in the environment. Latest newsletters are available below. |
PHONICS |
We use letters and sounds and jolly phonics to teach daily phonics sessions. You can revise the sounds we are doing at school by using some of the resources that are sent home with the children, or any of the resources that were in the phonics evening information pack. |
READING BOOKS |
Reading books will be changed up to twice a week, at this age it is of great benefit for children to share the same book more than once so that they become familiar with it. Please read little and often with your children, discussing the stories with them (including the pictures) and encouraging them to read words that use the sounds they have been taught at school. It is also great if you can share other books that you have at home with your children.
Please write a short comment in the reading diary so that we know when you have shared a book. |
USEFUL WEBSITES |

THE FOUNDATION STAGE CURRICULUM
Much of our planning in EYFS is determined by the interests, skills and next steps that we observe in the children on a week to week basis. This ensures that activities are planned to best capture the interests of all of the children. It is through this flexible approach to learning that we ensure the objectives and outcomes for Foundation Stage are covered and achieved.
If you want to find out more about how the Foundation Stage works and how you can support you child at the same time, the parent guide and FS Outcomes documents below would be a useful point of reference.
