Desford is a happy, friendly and hard-working school with a dedicated team of staff. Our pupils behave well, are keen to learn and they take great pride in respecting our school and wider village community. At Desford, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As such, we ask all volunteers and visitors to share this common commitment. If you have any concerns about the welfare or behaviour of a child or adult in school, please report it immediately to one of our safeguarding officers.
Senior Leadership Team
Our Senior Leadership Tea (SLT) consists of a Head Teacher, two Assistant Head Teachers and two Senior Teachers/Phase Leaders, each with additional responsibilities for developing the strategic direction of the school. Maths and English Subject Leaders also attend SLT on occasions.

Currently we have 19 teachers (both full and part time) including the Senior Leadership Team. In addition to class teachers for the 14 classes, we employ a teacher who delivers French plus another who is our Sport and Active Lifestyle leader.

Support Staff
We employ Learning Support Assistants for supporting children with additional needs that are entitled to statutory support beyond that which the Class Teacher or Teaching Assistant is able to provide alone. They support children with Educational Health Care Plans who are on the SEND register. We also employ LSAs for supporting the Sport and Active Lifestyle Leader as well as for delivering some of The Pupil Premium provision in school.

Lunchtime Supervision and Activity Leaders
At lunchtime, we have a number of staff responsible for supervising and interacting with the children both in the dinner hall and on the playground, ensuring they are safe, happy and engaged. We have recently introduced 'Happy Lunchtimes' to further enhance the experience for staff and children.

Extra Time Club (ETC)
We offer a before and after school child care provision that is from 7:45am-8:45am in the mornings and 3:15pm-5:30pm in the evenings. You can find more information about this provision under the 'Parents' tab of the website.
