School Self-Evaluation

Staff and leaders at Desford Primary School are continually evaluating the operation of the school in all its aspects and at all levels.

One of the many sets of criteria against which we assess the performance of the school is Ofsted's " School Inspection Handbook" (DfE ref. 150066)

The latest version of this document was published in June 2015 and is the one currently used by Inspectors to grade school performance.

Ofsted inspectors look at the following areas;

  • the effectiveness of leadership and management
  • the quality of teaching and assessment
  • the personal development, behaviour and welfare of pupils
  • outcomes for pupils
  • the overall effectiveness of the school

Each of these areas has very detailed Grade Descriptors against which the school assesses its performance in a jargon-laden, technical and very long document known as the Self-Evaluation Form (SEF).

Attached the bottom of this page is a more manageable  summary of that document from which parents will be able to get a good idea of our current evaluation of where we are in Ofsted terms ( we are a "Good" school) and  our current 2017-18 development priorities.

The 2017-18 SEF/School Development Plan will be on this page by mid-September 2017
