School Self-Evaluation

Staff and leaders at Desford Primary School are continually evaluating the operation of the school in all its aspects and at all levels.

One of the many sets of criteria against which we assess the performance of the school is Ofsted's " School Inspection Handbook" (DfE ref. 150066)

The latest version of this document was published in June 2015 and is the one currently used by Inspectors to grade school performance.

Ofsted inspectors look at the following areas;

  • the effectiveness of leadership and management
  • the quality of teaching and assessment
  • the personal development, behaviour and welfare of pupils
  • outcomes for pupils
  • the overall effectiveness of the school

The July 2017 Ofsted Inspection was an external and highly rigorous evaluation of the school by the above categories. We were judged as continuing to meet the standards required to award a "Good " school grading. We will continue our own cycle of self-evaluation in the Spring Term 2018.

The School Development Plan 2017-18 reflects the whole-school development priorities we have set for ourselves and incorporates the areas for improvement specified in the 2017  Ofsted report
